The course examines how power is allocated among various political institutions in the EU and their role in the contemporary Europe.
The course provides basic knowledge on how European Union is build and examines its founding principles and fundamental values, institutions and policies. The legal nature, the distribution of powers and the role of the different institution of the EU are presented by studies on the European parliament, European Council, the Council, European Commission, advisory bodies and agencies). The legislative process in the EU is examined and models of democratic European governance. Some European policies are reviewed.
