| Course content ( maximum 700 characters) | The course offers an overview of key problems in contemporary epistemology. The main topics of the lectures are: the traditional analysis of knowledge, the challenges of skepticism, the Gettier problem and proposed solutions, theories of epistemic justification (foundationalism, coherentism, infinitism), internalism vs externalism, descriptive and normative theories of knowledge, theories of truth and naturalized epistemology. It is designed to provide understanding of the most influential theories of knowledge in contemporary philosophy and to develop students’ ability to critically discuss and write on these topics. There is one individual assignment during the course and an examination by the end of it. |
