The course focuses on key events in Europe up to the First World War: English Civil Wars /English Revolution/, American Revolution, French Revolution, Revolutions of 1848-49 /The springtime of nations/ and etc.
It aims to enlighten and discuss the emerging of the new political ideas and concepts in Europe for;
The role of monarchies;
The social position of the Church as institution after XVII c;
The idea of the proprietorship;
The concept of the social contract between the ruled and their rulers;
The emergence and nature of state power.
The comparison between parliamentary monarchies and absolute monarchies.
