My name is Alexander Stoyanov, and I am a Philosophy student. When I applied for Erasmus+ studies at Dicle Üniversitesi in Diyarbakir, Turkey, many people asked me: “Why exactly there?”
My answer was simple – because philosophy makes sense precisely where the world is not unambiguous.
The application process went surprisingly smoothly. The information was clear, and my communication with the coordinator, Vesela Belcheva, gave me the confidence that I would not be alone on this journey. This allowed me to focus on the most important question – why I was going.
Already in the first days at Dicle Üniversitesi, I realised that philosophy here is not just an academic discipline. It is part of everyday life – in conversations, in different perspectives, and in the encounter between tradition and modernity. The courses in Philosophy and Ethics made me think more deeply about morality, identity, and responsibility – not as abstract concepts, but as real choices.
The most valuable part were the conversations with other students – from Turkey and from all over the world. Everyone brought their own truth, and it was precisely in these differences that philosophy came alive. I learned to listen more, to ask better questions, and to accept that not every dilemma has a single, clear answer.
My message
If you are wondering whether Erasmus+ is for you – apply. Sometimes a journey does not give you ready-made answers, but better questions. And for a philosopher, that is the greatest reward.
